This half-day, guided trip is especially suited for early birds and photographers who know that true peace and discovery come just after dawn. We will transport you along with a canoe or kayak to the top of Wolseley Bay, at the mouth of the Wolseley River. By 7am, we'll be in our kayaks and paddling the river complete with water lilies, pickerelweed and rushes. At this hour, birds, muskrats and the ever-busy beavers are at work and play. Expect to "portage" over a beaver dam or two before we reach the open water of this spectacular river. We will pull in to shore, enjoy a continental breakfast prepared by the Lodge's chef and watch the day begin before paddling back to Wolseley Bay by 11am. This trip is offered at least twice a week depending upon interest from at least four paddlers and is an especially lovely way to complete your stay to the Lodge at Pine Cove. Some guests can't believe this trip isn't mandatory!

Are you intrigued by what the fur traders and Voyageurs experienced during their early expeditions? Explore the French River as they did so many years ago with our ORCKA-certified canoe guide to take you there. These trips are ideal for any level paddler with your expert guide to provide cultural and natural history information -- and teach or review paddling techniques along the way. The French River is unique in that the current is not noticeable either upstream or down, and rapids can easily be avoided, viewed from the shore, or quickly portaged. The perfect venue for both beginner and experienced paddlers. Book a private trip and set your own pace and agenda in advance or as you go. All necessary gear is provided. A scrumptious gourmet picnic lunch is included on full-day trips. On half-day trips, book a Lodge lunch, picnic lunch, or 3-course dinner before or after your adventure and regale us with tales of wildlife sightings and your discoveries.

After enjoying the delicious hamper breakfast that's delivered to your door, saunter over to the beach where your guide will meet you to embark on your French River paddling adventure.

To book, please call for availability well in advance of the day you'd like to go.

Treat yourself to a romantic gourmet hamper picnic and board the Lodge's water taxi for a short trip to a secluded island. En route, Skipper Alex will entertain you with a brief introduction to the French River's history of voyageurs and fur traders. Your island is for you to enjoy complete with picnic, picnic blanket, a double hammock, camp chairs, and if you wish we will bring a canoe/kayak for your enjoyment for a small additional cost. There are forests to explore, rocks to slide down into the French River's warm water and a hammock ready for your reading or sleeping pleasure. As your appetites mount, find a shady location, lay out your picnic blanket and open up your picnic hamper in which you'll find a carefully crafted lunch that will delight your taste buds. If you take the trip in July or early August, you might augment your meal with wild blueberries that grow throughout the region. After lunch, swim again, read a book or simply relax. We'll be there to pick you up at about 5pm, with enough time for a shower and cocktail before dinner.

Experience a unique Thanksgiving weekend by helping us paddle our Voyageur canoe to a wild cranberry bog near the Lodge. We aim to pick enough cranberries for our annual Thanksgiving Potluck dinner on Sunday, October 11 -- and have a lot of fun doing it together!

Chef Ignacio will concoct several different fresh cranberry sauces for sampling with dinner.

Along with the fresh cranberries we gather, bring your favourite dish to our annual potluck dinner. We supply the turkey, vegetables, potatoes and freshly made cranberry sauces. Come enjoy the warm ambience of the roaring fire, while savouring a special Thanksgiving dinner with new friends at our harvest table.
